From the Desk of Superintendent Ryan

In an email dated 02/15/2024

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we head into February break, I would like to share some updates from the district with you.

Updated School Calendar: The School Committee approved some changes to this year's school calendar. Most notably, March 14 will be an early release day. Parent-teacher conferences for BCS will be held on March 14. March 28 will be a full day of school. The updated calendar is linked here and can be found on our website.

Attendance Challenge: When we return from February break, there will be four school days left in the Frosty February Attendance Challenge. February break will be a great time to restore a routine for showing up to school. As long as your student is healthy, please encourage daily school attendance. Please reach out to your student's principal with questions or concerns about attendance.

From the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education: In a press release received on February 15, 2024, Commission Reilly announced that he would step down from his position next month. Commissioner Reilly will recommend Deputy Commissioner Russell Johnston to the Board of Education to serve as Acting Commissioner. The complete press release can be found here.

From Congressman Jake Auchincloss: On Friday, February 23, Congressman Auchincloss will be hosting a virtual roundtable for MA-04 students and their caregivers. Congressman Auchincloss will share updates about the 118th Congress in Washington, D.C.

This is an opportunity for students to meet Congressman Auchincloss, talk about issues important to them, and learn more about what I'm doing to serve our community. Although this roundtable is open to all students, it will be geared toward students in late elementary to middle school.

Students can ask what a typical day is like in Congress, what priorities we're focused on in Washington, and any other questions they may have about working on Capitol Hill.

You will also have an opportunity to connect with Congressman's Auchincloss staff to hear about casework services in our office. Details about the roundtable are below, and I hope you'll be able to join me. If you're able to attend, please RSVP HERE.
