Greetings:

On behalf of the Berkley School Committee, administrators, teachers, and staff, I would like to welcome you to the Berkley Public Schools website. The Berkley Public Schools is a preschool through grade 8 district consisting of two schools. This coming September, we will provide free full day kindergarten to all Berkley kindergarten children for the first time. The Community School houses students in preschool-grade 4 and the Middle School houses students in grades 5-8. The majority of Berkley’s high school students attend Somerset-Berkley Regional High School, located in Somerset, Bristol Plymouth Technical Vocational High School, or Bristol County Agricultural High School.

Berkley Public Schools does participate in the School Choice Program. Non residents may apply to become a School Choice child for free full day kindergarten. There are a limited number of School Choice seats available in other grades as well. Parents of School Choice students must transport their own children to and from school.

Berkley Public Schools has an enrollment of approximately 913. The average number of students per grade level is 93 and the average class size is grades K-8 is approximately twenty-one. These relatively small class sizes allow each teacher to truly know and understand the learning styles and habits of his or her students.

Every staff member is completely committed to providing the very best education possible to the children that enter their classrooms. Teachers strive to provide each student with the necessary skills needed to reach their full potential. It is their intent to motivate and to engage all students in lessons that will allow them to be high-achieving, self-motivated, and creative life-long learners.

Educating students in the 21st Century presents additional challenges that the Berkley educators meet on a daily basis. The Berkley Public Schools will continue to provide the technology and engineering skills for our students so that they are prepared to succeed in a world that seems to grow smaller by the day. We currently have two computer instructional labs, a technology and engineering lab, interactive white boards, four to five computers in each classroom, and student laptops on mobile carts enabling us to provide whole class instruction at the Middle School.
