Welcome to the Berkley Community School! At BCS, we believe that the involvement of parents and community members enhances and expands the program of education that we provide for our students. Thus, we invite you to share in the BCS experience by taking advantage of the involvement opportunities described in this brochure. Your participation is wanted and appreciated!
BPTO/BCS Activities Committee
The Berkley Parent Teacher Organization oversees an Activities Committee at both schools in Berkley. The Activities Committee of the Berkley Community School has two main purposes. The first is to raise funds to provide various resources to the students of BCS. Additionally, the BCS Activities Committee hosts varied activities to benefit the students of BCS such as family dances, the Winter Wonderland Night and the Spring Family Picnic. The Berkley Community School Activities Committee oversees the Box Tops program. The BCS Activities Committee meets monthly in the BCS cafeteria. School Council
The School Council is a committee that advises the principal in developing the Annual School Improvement Plan. The PTCAC also reviews the school budget and discipline policy on an annual basis. The members of the School Council are either appointed or elected. The School Council meets monthly in the Early Childhood Conference Room. SPEDPAC
The Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SPEDPAC) meets to discuss issues relative to Special Education and to plan events and awareness activities for our school community. This group is open to any interested parent or community member, and is of special interest to the parents of Special Education students. Kindergarten Committee
As part of the Full Day Kindergarten Grant, the BCS has developed a committee to examine Kindergarten transition activities and curriculum. This committee is open to any interested Preschool or Kindergarten parent. For more information contact Sarah Cogar, Assistant Principal, (508) 822-9550.
